So I haven’t blogged in a while because nothing too exciting has been going on here. We have been putting in a fireplace in our living room and have been finishing up our basement. While this has been going on, we had to put our TV has been in our room and the boys and I have been shut up in there too much during the last few weeks. Eli does not like the noise the tools make so we have to be as far away as we can. Which means we are in my bedroom watching TV or reading. We have been going stir crazy. I am so glad that the weather has been pleasant the past week or so. We have been able to get out of the house and run around.
While playing outside one day, my boys thought it would be fun to collect the giant leaves from our neighbor’s tree that has been blowing into our yard. Then they decided that they wanted to give me the leaves as a present. I didn’t want to hurt my kids’ feelings so for a day or so we had a huge leaf bouquet in our house. I love how precious children are.
Today I voted! I went at 10 this morning and was done in about 15 minutes. That is the perfect time to go. Paul stayed home this morning and went in late to work so that we could both vote without standing in long lines and so that I didn’t have to take the kids. I hope all of you have voted!
Halloween was quite the busy day for us this year. Jackson had preschool were he dressed up in his costume. He was Raphael the Ninja Turtle. He has been so excited for this day. After getting Jack off to preschool Eli wanted his costume on. He was the black Spiderman. I let them both pick out their costumes this year, and Eli kept on pointing to the black Spiderman costume although I showed him about 20 costumes total. Oh well I guess he knew what he wanted.
So after Jackson’s preschool, we then went to visit my Grandpa at his Assisted Living home where they put on a Halloween party for their residents Grandkids. Two of my cousins came with their kids also and I could tell it meant a lot to my Grandpa to have us there. He was quite proud of his turn out. (Just a side note, at the Assisted Living place, a lot of the candy that they gave the kids were butterscotch candies and jolly ranchers. Not the best candy for little kids. I had to laugh at that. Needless to say those candies were taken away when we got home).
About an hour after we got home it was time to go trick or treating. The boys were so excited. They didn’t want dinner despite my best efforts at trying to get them to eat some real food. We did manage to get them to sit still long enough for a picture with our neighbors. Then they were off trick or treating with Dad. This is the first year Eli got the concept of trick or treating and he loved it. He has the biggest sweet tooth and was in heaven. Jackson I am afraid to admit, does NOT LIKE Chocolate!! I don’t know where he gets that but he doesn’t. So Paul told me at every house he would ask to see their candy after saying trick or treat, and if they didn’t have anything non chocolate he would tell them he didn’t want any candy. Paul said people were quite surprised at that. But oh well, if he doesn’t like it, he doesn’t like it.
After they got home, they were very excited to show me all of their candy. Paul and I realized after watching Eli run around the house non stop for 5 minutes that Eli was definitely on a sugar high so we put on a movie and the kids went to bed late that night. Eli of course loving his costume had to sleep in his. He has wanted to wear it 24/7 since Halloween and I have had to tell him that it is dirty and I am washing it. I think Halloween was a success.
