Dylan + RSV = Hospital Stay

So I don’t have pictures to post of our Easter this year because our Easter was put on the back burner due to the fact that Dylan ended up in the hospital that day. That week Dylan had been fighting a head cold but on Friday night the cold settled into his chest and I could hear him wheezing when he breathed. Saturday I took him to the Dr and he tested positive for RSV. They gave him a breathing treatment and that brought up his oxygen level and cleared out his lungs a little bit. The Dr told me to take him to the Riverton hospital respiratory clinic that is free over the weekend to keep suctioning out his nose and throat. I took him that night, but didn’t think that it helped much. Saturday night Dylan wasn’t eating at all and all the night he struggled to breath. At 5:30 that morning Paul and I decided that I should take him back to the hospital. We went to the respiratory clinic to see if the suctioning hi him out would help. It didn’t and the Dr at the clinic had him admitted to the ER. Once there, the Dr told us there wasn’t much he could do at this hospital and he referred me to Primary Children’s. He told me they had a respiratory clinic that you can stay at for 23 hours, and that they could keep suctioning him and that should help him breath and eat. So Dylan and I headed home to grab a few things and to say happy Easter to the boys. So I drove Dylan up to Primary Children’s. While in their clinic after another suction, Dylan fell asleep. When he fell asleep his oxygen levels dropped to an alarming low. The Dr rushed in and told me that she didn’t feel comfortable sending him home with his levels this low and that they were admitting him. So Dylan and I were moved into our own room, where Dylan was hooked up to oxygen, and a whole lot of other stuff to monitor him. Luckily he did eat enough that we didn’t need to give him an IV. Paul was able to leave the boys with his mom and came up and stayed with us for a few hours. (The boys still had a good day and were just happy their brother was going to get better). I spent the night at the hospital with Dylan. Luckily by 8 in the morning Monday, they were able to take Dylan off of the oxygen, and 2 naps later determined that his levels were high enough that he could go home. We went home late Monday afternoon. We were happy to be home. After a few follow up visits with our pediatrician, Dylan is doing great and you would never know that he was sick. We are so blessed that Heavenly Father was looking out for us and that things are a ok. Here are a few pics of Dylan in the hospital.

Regardless of what was going on, Dylan did so great!!
