The First One
So since it is a beginning of the year, I decided to start a web blog. I am doing this mainly for myself, but if others enjoy it, that is great. I have two children and they grow up so fast. I want to be able to remember the little things. I decided that typing out a journal would be much better than writing one. I just don’t hand write anymore, so keeping a journal is hard for me. This should work out just great.
So the New Year got off to quite a busy start for me. I think it has been one hard week. Last weekend, my husband Paul, and my two children, Jackson and Eli all got sick. The kids with horrible head colds, and my husband with a head cold mixed with the flu. So I found myself taking care of a lot of people. I celebrated the New Year with a friend and her family while my family was all in bed. We played games and sang karaoke. New Years day was still filled with taking care of sick people. On Tuesday, Jackson had to have his third outpatient surgery. He had to have tubes put in his ears, and his adenoids taken out. His ear drum has ruptured twice within 6 weeks, and the Dr. wanted him to have the surgery quickly so he wouldn’t have hearing damage. Well with my husband sick, I had to take him through the surgery myself. Thanks to a wonderful mother in law, she came to watch Eli so that Paul could get some rest. Jackson and I had to be at Hospital by 7:15 am. We live 1/2 hour away, so we had to leave early. The surgery went really well. Although as the anesthesiologist took my son away for surgery, I couldn’t quit thinking about how much we trust these strangers at hospitals to save our lives, or to save the lives of the most important people to us in the world. So as I said the surgery went well, but for the next few days, Jackson was still really grumpy recovering from the procedures and the anesthesia. Eli has still been recovering from his first head cold. His first one in nine months of life, and it had to happen when the rest of the family was sick. Oh well. So it has been a trying week. Taking care of two whiny and sick children, and one sick husband, who doesn’t handle being sick well. But thanks to a wonderful friend, and wonderful family, I survived. Barely.
So today bring a weekend, and a good one at that. My family is healthy again, and I have my active, oh so active boys back, and I couldn’t be happier. Hopefully they stay healthy for a while. I don’t know if I can handle my family sick again for a while.
